Photo 101 is a six-week introduction to photography designed for people who own a DSLR or mirrorless camera but don't feel like they truly understand how to use it.

Maybe you've been shooting in Auto mode for years. Maybe you've tried watching YouTube videos and found yourself overwhelmed by photography jargon. Maybe you understand a few settings but don't really know when or why to use them. This class was built for those photographers.

My goal is not to turn you into a professional photographer. My goal is to help you become comfortable and confident with your camera.

Every week we introduce a new concept in a controlled environment, then head outside to put it into practice. You'll have the opportunity to ask questions, experiment, make mistakes, and learn alongside other photographers who are at a similar point in their journey. The class naturally evolves based on the interests and experience level of the students attending.

Topics include composition, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, depth of field, motion, low-light photography, lenses, and manual mode. More importantly, we'll focus on understanding how these concepts work together so you can make intentional photographs rather than simply hoping the camera gets it right.

This is a hands-on class. You'll be using your camera during every session.

If you've ever looked at your camera and thought, "I know this thing can do more, but I have no idea where to start," this class is for you.
