As the sun dips below the horizon, the sky melts into a gradient of deep blues and warm amber, reflecting off the still waters of Green Bay. This is summer at Peninsula State Park—the scent of campfires drifting through the trees, laughter echoing from nearby campsites, and the slow rhythm of lake life settling into the evening.
Captured from Weborg Dock, this long-exposure shot smooths the water into a glassy expanse, with rugged dolomite rocks anchoring the foreground. These formations have withstood centuries of waves, now softened by time and lichen. The dock itself, named after the Weborg family, early settlers of Fish Creek, was once part of a small fishing community. Before Peninsula State Park was established in 1909, commercial fishermen worked these waters, hauling in whitefish and perch to supply local markets. Today, the dock serves a different purpose—welcoming visitors seeking the perfect sunset, a quiet moment of reflection, or a lucky cast into the bay.
A faint glow on the distant shoreline hints at another perfect Door County night—campers returning from a day of biking the Sunset Trail, paddling the bay, or grabbing an ice cream from town. Fish Creek, once a lumbering and fishing village, has long since evolved into one of Door County’s most beloved destinations, drawing visitors with its charming shops, historic inns, and waterfront views.
Yet, here at Weborg Dock, time slows down. It’s the kind of evening that makes summer feel endless, where the fire crackles a little longer, and the stars shine a little brighter.
All prints are of museum quality and printed in The USA. Canvas Prints are wrapped around a hardwood frame to prevent long-term wrapping and utilize a 0.75" thick wrap.
